Amit Shah, Indian Home Minister, talked about Manipur riots in Lok Sabha. He stated that he and PM Narendra Modi have been continuously monitoring riots and situation in Manpur. He called the North-Eastern State a part of India and government is every much looking at the incident with utmost seriousness. Amit Shah called Manipur riots has local issue and pleaded opposition to not make it political. He stated that in Manipur state, two communities have started the entire issue and slowly it is coming under control. Amit Shah stated that Army action has been taken by government in a planned manner.
He stated that he has been astonished and moved by the violence in Manipur. Amit Shah stated that a total of 152 people have died in the riots. He stated that 14,898 number of rioters have been arrested and 1106 cases have been registered. He stated that after the viral video has come out, they took action immediately on the prepetrators. Amit Shah stated that Kuki and Mehti communities have been at the centre of the riots.
He stated that Kuki Tribals entering into Manipur from Mizoram and Myanmar has caused the issue. He stated that practically building a wall along the border is impossible. So, the tribals who entered as refugees have caused unrest in local communities. Amit Shah said that Indian Army has brought the situation under control. He also answered to the question why Manipur CM is not changed. He stated that CM N. Biren Singh has been in touch with Union Government, regularly. Amit Shah again stated that opposition should not make it political. He stated that even in 1993 such riots have occurred in Manipur.
