Ajit Pawar, the Opposition Leader of Maharashtra, joined Maharashtra Government. He and some of NCP MLAs have gone to Raj Bhavan to meet Governor. CM Eknath Shinde also joined them. After meeting Governor, Ajit Pawar took oath as new Deputy CM of Maharashtra. This is a huge body blow to Sharad Pawar. He has been planning to take on BJP at National Level. But Ajit Pawar has sent him and his plans into deep abyss.
8 other NCP MLAs have also joined Maharashtra government as Ministers. Ajit Pawar conducted a meeting at his residence with NCP leaders and MLAs. He took the decision not continue as Opposition leader and join Government. Ajit Pawar stated that he joined the Government as he likes PM Narendra Modi’s leadership. In 2019, Ajit Pawar joined Devendra Fadnavis, to become Deputy CM and form government. But then Sharad Pawar formed alliance with Congress and Shivsena parties as Maha Vikas Aghadi government.
Eknath Shinde rebelled against Uddhav Thackeray, MVA head and ex-CM, and formed government with BJP. Shivsena is now divided into two parts as Eknath Shinde faction and Uddhav Thackeray faction. Ajit Pawar, by joining BJP and Shivsena, he has put plans of Sharad Pawar to rise as a strong opposition in 2024 Parliament elections. More than 40 MLAs from 53 MLAs of NCP, are supporting Ajit Pawar. Well, BJP seems to have started their game of thrones with their biggest opposition after Karnataka elections.
