Comedian and actor Munawar Faruqui has taken a light-hearted and very Munawar-style approach to promote his latest comedy series, First Copy, now available to stream for free on Amazon MX Player.
In a new video that’s quickly gone viral, Munawar is seen attempting to get some promotional advice from his celebrity friends – but things don’t go exactly as expected.
The video kicks off with Munawar trying to reach out to the likes of filmmaker Farah Khan, comedian Samay Raina, and influencer Ranveer Allahbadia. But none of them pick up his calls. Stumped but not discouraged, he then meets podcast host Raj Shamani, hoping for guidance. Instead, he’s overwhelmed by complicated branding talk that leaves him visibly puzzled.
Determined to try every angle, Munawar heads to the dance studio of choreographers Piyush and Shazia. There, he makes a comical attempt at learning a tricky dance routine for the First Copy anthem – only to give up midway, jokingly asking for something “more Indian, like Amazon MX Player – free in India!”
The chaos continues as Munawar visits singer Tony Kakkar to discuss music ideas. But instead of a tune, he’s told to watch a black-and-white TV for “inspiration.”
Eventually, Farah Khan finally returns his call. What follows is a brilliantly funny back-and-forth, where the two play around with the term “First Copy” in true improv style. Then Samay Raina steps in with marketing ideas so absurd, even Munawar can’t keep a straight face.
The entire video is a rollercoaster of missed connections and comic confusion – and fans can’t get enough. Many are calling it “the most Munawar way to promote a show,” and praising it for being refreshingly original.
The series First Copy stars Munawar Faruqui alongside Krystle D’Souza, Gulshan Grover, Saqib Ayub, Ashi Singh, Meiyang Chang, Inam Ul Haq, and Raza Murad. The show is streaming free on Amazon MX Player, available via the app, Amazon’s shopping platform, Fire TV, and other connected devices.
