Recently due to bomb threats three international flights have been disrupted, prompting emergency measures and investigations.
On Tuesday, an IndiGo flight (6E 2706) travelling from Muscat to Delhi, with a layover in Kochi, made an emergency landing at Nagpur Airport after a bomb threat was received. According to Nagpur DCP Lohit Matani, all passengers were safely deboarded, and no suspicious items were found during initial checks. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
This follows a similar case on Monday, when a Lufthansa flight (LH752) from Frankfurt to Hyderabad turned back to Germany after a bomb threat was received by email. The message reached Hyderabad Airport at 6:01 PM on 15 June, before the aircraft entered Indian airspace.
Officials said the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee followed all safety procedures and advised the airline to return to Frankfurt, prioritising passenger safety. A Lufthansa spokesperson confirmed that the passengers were given hotel accommodation and were scheduled to continue their journey the next day.
Earlier, on 13 June, an Air India flight (AI 379) from Phuket, Thailand, to New Delhi was forced to make an emergency landing in Phuket after receiving a bomb threat mid-air. That incident is also under investigation. Authorities stress that no explosives have been found so far in any of these cases. However, security agencies are treating all threats seriously and are conducting thorough assessments as per standard procedures.
These incidents have raised concerns about aviation security, with multiple investigations now underway. No links between the bomb threats have been confirmed yet.
