The case of fake ‘Mounjaro’ injections used to reduce diabetes has created a stir in Gurugram. Police arrested two people in Gurugram who are making these fake injections by bringing raw materials from China. Consumers all over the country are worried because of counterfeit medicines.
According to the police, a team of the health department, which came to know about the manufacture of fake injections, carried out inspections in Sector 62 of a residential society in Gurugram and arrested two accused. The arrested gang was found to be importing raw materials from China and making fake injections in a flat in the society. Accused are supplying these fake injections to consumers through the India Mart B2B portal. An injection called ‘Mounjaro’ is taken weekly by people with type 2 diabetes. This keeps diabetes under control and also keeps weight under control. Therefore, the demand for these in the market is high..
Police said “We have received information that fake injections are being made in Gurugram. We conducted searches in this order. Our team seized fake injections worth around Rs.70 lakhs from a vehicle belonging to the society. The investigation revealed that they were mixing raw materials with water and making them. Barcodes and packaging are all handled in a residential house in the society. A man named Muzzamil works as a delivery boy in this gang. Along with him, the main accused Avisharma was also arrested. According to officials, preliminary investigations revealed that Muzzamil belongs to Uttar Pradesh and Avisharma belongs to Gurugram.
As these injections were known to be fake, there was an uproar among consumers across the country. Doctors reveal that due to the use of these, one has to face serious health problems. Officials are investigating to find out who is behind the Gurugram racket and where else this racket is running.
