Yamuna River has risen up to highest ever level this season. Delhi has been facing water crisis for many years and also save Yamuna campaign has been often talked about. The river water has been severely polluted in Delhi and this has caused worry among many. Now, Yamuna River seems to be giving it back to humanity. The water level has risen to all-time high and a severe flood alert has been already issued.
In second week of July, the river water level rise has scared Government of Delhi. Now, Noida in Delhi has been submerged under Yamuna River water. New photos have surfaced on news channels and social media, showcasing cars being submerged under water in Noida. Recently, water management board of Yamuna River has announced that 15-20 cm rise in water level is further anticipated.
Due to rains in Yamuna River basin and tributaries, Himachal Pradesh, this situation has arisen. People living in low lying areas of Delhi are afraid to death with River water rising every minute. Delhi Government has announced big alert in the city asking people to stay indoors. The scary visuals just showcase how much land encroachment has been done in River basin. Also, Yamuna River never had such huge inflow in recent history. So, it could be stated as mix of both human errors and extreme natural causes.
