Yamuna River has never been this aggressive before in the history. Delhi public and government are fearing due to the extreme flood water in the river. The river water has hit the levels of 208.55 meters, higher than maximum level. Yamuna River floods are scaring Delhi public and government. The extreme rainfall in Haryana and Himachal Pradesh states are feeding floods even more. Yamuna River has crossed 208.51 meters level by 9:00 AM on 13th July, morning. Now, the water level has risen to 208.55 Meters.
Previously, Delhi faced massive floods in 1978 when Yamuna River water touched 207.49 Meters level. Now, the water level is beyond recorded extreme dangerous levels. Haryana government has released water from Hatnikund Barrage. Central Water Commission is anticipating Yamuna River water level to rise beyond extremely dangerous level. From 14th July, they are anticipating the rains to subside in Northern States. But Yamuna River floods are scaring Delhi to no end. Flood water are stagnant on roads and major amount of Delhi roads are submerged under water.

Delhi Government has issued caution for Delhi Metro rail and asked them to run at limited speed. They have canceled services temporarily for Yamuna River Bank station. The catchment area has received even more rains on 12th July. So, Delhi Government is scared about floods lasting for long. They have already shifted people from low lying areas and has asked Central Government to stop releasing water further into Yamuna River. Central Government has stated that they cannot stop river flow and access has to be released to lower areas. Yamuna River water has even filled up roads leading to CM Arvind Kejriwal’s house.
