The new dispute began after officials announced that the movie would show in the state after its national theater release. The West Bengal government did not issue an official ban against the film. The Bengal film producers faced cancellation according to him after the trailer launch event stopped and three police complaints were made against him. The director declared that his film would not have any West Bengal theatrical exhibitions which started on September 2025 across India. He claimed that political forces used intimidation tactics to stop industry professionals from showing the film.

The West Bengal government told Calcutta High Court during the ongoing legal dispute that there exists no state ban which applies to the movie.
Exhibitors and cinema owners decided against showing the film because of their existing commitments to other films which they had scheduled for release. The film which depicts historical events of communal violence that took place during Direct Action Day and Noakhali riots received strong political responses before its official release. Pallavi Joshi the actress and producer made an official complaint about an unofficial ban before the film’s opening which she presented to the President of India.
