For some time now, rumours have been circulating that Telugu star Vijay Deverakonda is set to make his Bollywood debut with the highly anticipated film Don 3. However, fresh reports suggest that the actor has turned down the offer.
Directed by Farhan Akhtar, Don 3 comes 14 years after the release of Don 2. While Shah Rukh Khan played the lead role in the previous films, this new installment stars Ranveer Singh, with Kiara Advani as the female lead and Kriti Sanon reportedly playing the second heroine.
Initial buzz claimed that the filmmakers approached Vijay Deverakonda for a powerful villain role. According to sources, Farhan Akhtar even met the actor personally and offered him a hefty remuneration. It was said that the negative role was designed to be as strong as the hero’s character. Speculation grew that Vijay had given the green light to the project.
This led many to compare Vijay with Jr NTR, who is set to play a grey-shaded role in War 2 as part of his Bollywood debut. However, reliable sources now say Vijay Deverakonda has declined the role in Don 3. It appears he was not interested in playing a villain and chose to step away from the project.
With this, talk of his Bollywood debut through Don 3 has come to an end—at least for now. Vijay is currently busy with his upcoming pan-India film Kingdom, which is expected to release soon.
