Popular Telugu anchor and actress Udaya Bhanu has once again made headlines with her candid remarks about the challenges she has faced in the entertainment industry. Speaking during the promotions of her latest film Tribandhari Barbarik, the well-known presenter revisited comments she had previously made about “anchor syndicates” in the industry, remarks that had sparked considerable debate.
At the O Bhama Ayyo Rama pre-release event, Udaya Bhanu had claimed that a few anchors operate as a closed group, limiting opportunities for others. While some suggested she made the statement because she wasn’t being offered enough work, others dismissed it as an offhand remark. However, she clarified that although her tone was humorous at the time, her words reflected the truth of her experiences.
Udaya Bhanu revealed that on several occasions, she had been fully prepared for an event, only to be replaced without notice at the last moment. She said there are more people questioning why she was chosen for a show than those supporting her. She also recalled times when her dates were booked, yet she was removed without even being informed.
Speaking about her career choices, she explained that she has always been selective and has never taken every opportunity that came her way. She avoided small-scale interviews that could have deprived younger anchors of chances, saying she never wanted to take away someone else’s bread and butter. Despite being labelled one of the highest-paid anchors, she revealed that she still holds numerous bounced cheques, a reality far from public perception.
Udaya Bhanu promised to one day expose everything she has seen in the industry, believing it would lead to significant confrontations but also create awareness among future generations about the difficulties within the field. She added that her philosophical outlook comes from both reading and hard-earned life experience, and hinted that she is currently writing a book based on those lessons.
