Actor Vishnu Manchu has seen tough times in his film career recently, but his latest film Kannappa is now turning things around. The movie has made an impressive ₹15 crore net in India within just two days of release, making it one of the biggest hits of his career so far.

To celebrate the positive response, the team held a special thank-you event in Hyderabad on Saturday, one day after the film’s release. Fans and media were invited to take part in the celebration.

Kannappa is based on the story of a well-known devotee of Lord Shiva, taken from a traditional tale popular in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Though deeply rooted in Telugu culture, the film was directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, a filmmaker from the Hindi industry.

When asked why a non-Telugu director was chosen, Vishnu gave an honest reply. “You all know that no Tollywood director would have said yes to working with me on this script,” he said. He also spoke about his past struggles at the box office and added, “Mukesh had done excellent work with a mythological TV series. Though Kannappa is his first film, I trusted him completely. He’s a rare talent, and I want to support such people.”

Mukesh Kumar Singh is known for directing the Star Plus version of Mahabharat. Kannappa is his first time directing a feature film.

The film stars Vishnu Manchu in the lead and includes guest appearances by Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, and Kajal Aggarwal, among others. The large supporting cast includes Preity Mukhundhan, Mohan Babu, Sarathkumar, Brahmanandam, and several others.
