Kamal Haasan has joined hands with Mani Ratnam after 36 years. The movie is produced by him, Madras Talkies, Red Giant Movies, Mahendran and Siva Ananth. Mani Ratnam has decided to stay away from big stars after Nayakan and Thalapathy. After 36 years, he has decided to go Kamal, as he has a story that suits him.
For long, Indian cinema audiences, have been waiting for this combination to come together again. Nayakan has become a cult gangster film in Indian cinema. It has even been added in Wisden list of 100 greatest films, ever made. Kamal Haasan is playing Shaktivel Nayakar in this film. His name in Nayakan is also same. Movie is titled as Thug Life, pertaining to the lead, who is a thug.
In this movie, Dulquer Salmaan, Jayam Ravi and Trisha Krishnan have also been cast in lead roles. The announcement teaser has Kamal Haasan fighting and narrating his story. Anbariv masters have composed action. Mani Ratnam has been more interested in drama films for long time. After Ponniyin Selvan, he seems to be getting back to action genre. AR Rahman is composing music and Ravi Chandran is handling cinematography.
