The Trial Analysis:
The Trial has a very interesting premise to start off. There are some old Hindi films that too talk about home-makers finding themselves as career women for family. The Good Wife talks about a person with low confidence looking to make a career and learn as the opportunities arise. She becoming worldly clever and winning in career is a very good premise. The Trial tries to build it like The Good Wife TV series. It being a TV series, the time it required to build to the events works better. The Trial fails to gather momentum as the episodes unravel. The series feels like a big drag as it circles around the issue without addressing it.

Kajol has given her earnest performance in the character. While we do know about her talent and prowess, somehow she looked confused about character motivation. Still, she is fairly consistent through the series. The Trial needed some more strong women and male characters to see how Noyonika is growing against the tide or getting influenced. It just feels to generic in writing and overtly melodramatic at places. Had the writing team tried to give more teeth to other characters along with Kajol, this series might have been interesting to watch. The Trial ends up being a good premise derailed into bitten path with uninspired writing.
The Trial Positives:
Kajol Performance
Initial episode
Set-up of roadblocks
The Trial Negatives:
Undefined Characters
Lethargic Writing
Too much drag
The Trial Bottom-line: Loses Steam from mid-point
Priya Prakash Varrier: Pawan Kalyan is a legend of sorts, I look up to him!
