Drugs case Srikanth

Chennai police have arrested Tamil actor Srikanth in connection with a drugs case investigation that has been unfolding over recent weeks. He was called in for questioning on Monday morning at the Nungambakkam police station. His blood samples were taken in the session and sent for lab testing. After hours of questioning, police took him into custody due to his alleged links with a man named Prasad. According to police, the actor bought drugs 40 times, spending ₹4.72 lakh via online transactions for cocaine purchases at Rs12,000/gram.

Prasad, a former member of the AIADMK party, had previously been arrested following a violent incident at a pub in Chennai. Authorities uncovered evidence pointing to drug use during that investigation, prompting them to widen their probe. This eventually brought Srikanth under the scanner, as he was believed to have ties to Prasad.

Police are now looking into whether Srikanth played a direct role in the drugs activities case or if he was indirectly connected through his association with those already accused.

This is not the first time the Tamil film industry has found itself in the spotlight for the wrong reasons. In recent years, several high-profile names have come under scrutiny in drug-related cases. These incidents have raised concerns about substance abuse in the entertainment industry, with authorities taking stricter measures to curb the trend.

Officials have stated that they will continue their investigation and that no one will be spared if found guilty, regardless of their public status. The case is ongoing, and more details are expected once test reports are available and further questioning takes place.
