Malayalam actress Swasika has revealed that she was asked to play Ram Charan’s mother in the upcoming big-budget Telugu film Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana. The actress said she was shocked by the offer and decided not to accept it.

Swasika, who earned recognition with her role in Lover Paandu and recently appeared in Nithiin’s Thammudu, explained in an interview that she has been receiving back-to-back offers to play mother characters. She said, “I was surprised when I was asked to play Ram Charan’s mother in Peddi. It is a massive project, but I don’t feel ready to take up such roles right now. Maybe in the future, I can consider them, but not at this stage.”

Her comments quickly went viral and became a hot topic in both Tollywood and Malayalam media circles. Many fans were taken aback by the casting thought process. On social media, several users questioned why the director had considered her for such a role. Some said it would have been more fitting if she had been cast as a sister or in another supporting role.

At the same time, others pointed out that her performance in Lover Paandu showed her in shades of a character who ages from a younger phase to an older one, which might have led filmmakers to approach her for mother roles. Even so, Swasika made it clear that she does not want to take up such parts at this point in her career.

Meanwhile, expectations around Peddi continue to grow. With Ram Charan in the lead and Buchi Babu Sana at the helm, the film has already created massive buzz through its glimpses and shooting updates. But for now, Swasika’s revelation has added an unexpected twist to the discussion surrounding the film’s casting choices.
