SS Rajamouli has become a globally recognized director and National Pride for Indians and Indian Cinema. His latest film, RRR became a global sensation and Naatu Naatu song from the film has won Golden Globe award for Best Original Song too. SS Rajamouli used to highly expressive about his emotions and elevations at other films’ events a decade ago. He stopped expressing any “exaggerated fan comments” from his side, looking at the unnecessary negativity they can spread, owing to his popularity. Post Baahubali, SS Rajamouli has even limited his presence to only those films that might have any connection with his family or close friends.
But some comments that he made on Hrithik Roshan, 15 years ago have resurfaced on Internet and went viral. SS Rajamouli tried to express his admiration for screen presence of Prabhas at Billa event and after unveiling of the theatrical trailer he made comments stating that “Hrithik Roshan is nothing in front of Prabhas”. These comments have SS Rajamouli have been dug up by some Bollywood fans as Rajamouli tried to state on International stage at a press event in US, that his RRR is a “Telugu Language Indian Film” correcting them that it is not a Bollywood or Hindi film.
This hurt some of the Bollywood fans and media persons. They have openly criticized SS Rajamouli and someone dug up those comments. SS Rajamouli apoligised to Hrithik Roshan for his comments and said that he chose wrong words to express his emotion after looking at Prabhas in Billa, in excitement. He also said that those comments are 15 years old and he never thought seriously about them, ever.
Well, at audio events or pre-release events, filmmakers in South Cinema, do tend to go a little bit overboard in expressing their thoughts looking at the sea of fans in front of them, waiting for someone to praise their hero. SS Rajamouli made those comments in that context and he apologized too. Hope the people spreading negativity on him and RRR, stop it and move on.
