Actress Sridevi Vijaykumar, once a familiar face across Tamil, Telugu and Kannada cinema, is set to return to the silver screen with Sundarakanda, starring opposite Nara Rohit. While her comeback itself has already sparked interest, it is her extraordinary commitment on set that has left the film’s team deeply impressed.

Sridevi, who began her career as a child artiste and made her Telugu debut with Prabhas’s first film Eeswar, stepped back from films at the height of her career after marrying Rahul. Though she remained in the public eye as a judge on television shows, fans had long urged her to consider returning to acting. At 37, she is now making that wish a reality.

During promotional interviews for Sundarakanda, director Venkatesh Nimmalapudi revealed an intriguing detail about her preparation. For a key sequence in which Sridevi had to appear in a school uniform, the actress was reportedly anxious about how convincing she would look. Determined to deliver authenticity, she went to remarkable lengths, at one point abstaining from solid food for several days, consuming only water, to ensure she looked the part on screen.

The director admitted that he was initially unsure whether the scene would work, despite test shoots. However, once filming began, Sridevi’s transformation amazed not just him but the entire crew. Her ability to embody the role with such dedication became a talking point on set, and the team couldn’t stop praising her professionalism.

Sundarakanda is scheduled for release on 27 August and is being positioned as a crucial milestone for both Sridevi and debutant director Venkatesh Nimmalapudi. With Nara Rohit leading the cast and Sridevi stepping back into a central role, the film is already attracting curiosity. The actress herself is said to be optimistic, hoping the project will mark a successful new chapter in her career.

For audiences who have long admired her grace and screen presence, Sridevi’s comeback promises not only nostalgia but also a reminder of her enduring talent and determination.
