Dahaad OTT Platform: Amazon Prime Video
Dahaad is a Hindi Web-Series that is streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The OTT platform has been great in delivering successful hit shows. They had viral hits like Panchayat, Pataal Lok, Family Man, Mirzapur, Inside Edge and many more. Dahaad is from Excel Entertainments who have been producing content driven films. Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar have developed Tiger Baby films and produced this one. Sonakshi Sinha, Gulshan Devaiya, Vijay Varma, Sohum Shah kind of talented actors have been cast in the series. Let’s discuss about Dahaad further.

Dahaad is all about Anjali Bhaati(Sonakshi Sinha)’s investigation into a peculiar case of 27 women going missing. She keeps dwelling into the details and the case keeps getting complicated more than she could imagine. The mystery behind the case will be lost if revealed totally. Sonakshi Sinha as a lady cop excelled in this series. She has all the attitude and acting chops to carry off such a character. Dahaad does well in establishing her character.
Gulshan Devaiya and Vijay Varma get author backed roles too. But they are not given more to explore towards the end portions. Dahaad suffers with the pacing in mid-season episodes. It keeps circuling and orbiting around same thing again and again. At times, it doesn’t move at pace as we expect a thriller to. While that forces us to slide forward, the series seems to be happy taking its own time to tell everything. Dahaad could have been a potboiling thriller had the later portions also match to the starting portions.
Reema Katgi has given it enough meat to explore but Dahaad screenplay suffers with loopholes. The sensiblities of the directors are great but they fail to stream-line the entire narrative after a point. Sonakshi Sinha, Vijay Varma and Gulshan Devaiah tried their best to keep the things intact but in the later episodes things fall apart. Dahaad could have been another Farzi or Family Man but fizzles out in the mid-season and never recovers back.

Dahaad Positives:
Sonakshi Sinha and Vijay Varma scenes
Procedural drama with female lead
Production Design
Gripping first few episodes
Dahaad Negatives:
Later half of the season
Drama fizzles out
Slow narrative
Repetitive scenes
Dahaad Bottom-line: Fizzles in the middle!
