SJ Suryah and A R Rahman are working together after over a decade. Popular South Indian actor SJ Suryah is returning to direction after a decade, with his upcoming film titled Killer. Known for his powerful performances in both villain and character roles, Suryah has earned a loyal fan base across Tamil and Telugu cinema. Whether it’s Spyder, Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, or the upcoming Game Changer, his presence on screen is always impactful—often standing out regardless of the film’s overall success.
While many now recognise Suryah mainly as an actor, some may have forgotten that he began his career as a director, delivering major blockbusters like Vaali and Kushi. In Tamil, he even made a mark as a hero with New—a remake of his own Telugu film Naani, which had failed at the box office in Telugu but became a hit in Tamil. With the success of New, his focus shifted to acting, and he gradually stepped away from directing.
Suryah last directed a film in 2015—Isai. Now, after a 10-year break, he is making a grand comeback behind the camera with Killer, in which he will also play the lead role. This time, he is collaborating with a major production house to bring the project to life on a pan-India scale.
Adding even more excitement, legendary composer A R Rahman, who previously worked with SJ Suryah on Naani, New, and Puli, is once again joining hands with him for this film.
Reports suggest Suryah will not take up any other acting projects while focusing entirely on Killer. Fans and the industry alike are eager to see whether he can recreate the magic as a director that once made him a household name.
Only time will tell if Killer brings back the director in Suryah with a bang.
