Shreya Ghoshal

In light of the horrific incident involving the murder of a junior doctor in West Bengal, renowned singer Shreya Ghoshal had earlier postponed her concert. Recently, she went ahead with the rescheduled event, which took place at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata as part of her ‘All Hearts Tour.’ The performance, however, was far more than just a concert; it turned into a poignant tribute to the victim of the RG Kar Medical College murder. Shreya Ghoshal sang a deeply emotional song addressing the tragedy, which has since created a sensation across the country.

The song, featuring the powerful line “Today, you hear the pain of my wounded body” moved the audience. Through her voice, Shreya expressed the pain and anguish that victims of such brutal incidents endure. She requested the audience to refrain from clapping for the song, stressing that it was not meant for applause but to raise awareness. After her performance, the entire stadium echoed with chants of “We want justice,” a powerful demonstration of solidarity and demand for action.

The video of Shreya’s emotional performance has now gone viral on social media, sparking widespread attention and conversation about the incident. Many have applauded Shreya for using her platform to shine a light on such a tragic event, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh took to social media to congratulate Shreya on her impactful program. He noted that the singer was deeply affected by the incident and had postponed her show out of respect. In this rescheduled concert, her performance on women’s safety touched everyone’s hearts, bringing attention to the need for stronger protests against such horrific crimes. “Protests are necessary to address these brutal killings,” Ghosh remarked, praising Shreya for her empathy and involvement in the cause.

Shreya had previously spoken out about the RG Kar Hospital incident, describing how learning about the murder had left her feeling deeply unsettled. She described it as a “cruel act” and mentioned how it had left a lasting emotional impact on her.

In a show of solidarity, singer Arijit Singh also voiced his support for the cause by performing a Bengali song that called for justice. Arijit’s song was dedicated to the memory of the victim and all the women who have suffered in silence. “I sing this song for justice and for all the women who continue to suffer without a voice,” he stated. He further expressed his admiration for the courage of the deceased doctor and voiced his support for women enduring violence across the country.

Both Shreya Ghoshal and Arijit Singh’s actions have helped draw significant attention to the need for justice, not only for the murdered doctor but also for women’s safety as a whole. Their involvement in this cause has been met with widespread support, with many hoping that this tragedy will lead to meaningful change and an end to such brutal violence.
