Chandramukhi has become Industry Hit in Tamil Nadu and a Huge Overseas grosser as well. It became a hit in all languages it released even though it was a remake of Kannada Industry Hit Aptamithra which was a remake of Malayalam big hit Manichitrathazhu. Movie released way back in 2005.
Superstar Rajnikanth did a horror movie for the first time in his career after Baba failure at the box office. He gave a huge blockbuster with record breaking collections. P. Vasu became one of the most sought after directors post the release. He made Kuselan, remake of Malayalam hit film, Kadha Parayumbol in 2008.
During the time, P. Vasu announced sequel to Chandramukhi. He made Aptarakshaka with Vishnuvardhan in Kannada and the actor died just before the release of the movie. Movie became a blockbuster upon posthumous release of the actor. Rajnikanth did not show interest to act in the sequel and P. Vasu made Nagavalli with Anushka Shetty, Richa Gangopadhyay and Venkatesh playing the lead role, as the favorite student of Rajnikanth.
Now, Lyca Productions announced Chandramukhi 2, sequel with Raghava Lawrence as the lead actor. MM Keeravani will compose music and Vadivelu will be part of this movie. P. Vasu made horror-comedy Shivalinga with Lawrence and it became a hit. Raghave Lawrence has himself become a brand for horror comedies with Kanchana franchise.
