West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was today in Mumbai to address a small gathering. The meet was attended by several commentators, including Bollywood actress Swara Basker.

Speaking on the occasion, the ‘Veere Di Wedding’ actress made an appeal to the TMC supremo. She said that several stand-up comics such as Munawar Faruqi have been left with no option but to cancel their comedy shows across cities in India due to the “stifling environment”. Faruqi, whose show in Bengaluru was cancelled recently, was present on the occasion.

The actress then proceeded to make an appeal to Banerjee to save the comics as the Chief Minister of Bengal. “Save them from harassment,” she added.
