Sapta Sagaralu Dhaati Analysis:
Sapta Sagaralu Dhaati is a simple yet effective film that talks about love in a slice of life, mode. You can’t really take your eyes away from the proceedings on the screen. Manu and Priya look so real that we can identify with them either in ourselves or in people we know. We just feel like watching a couple we know are telling their story to us. This is a great achievement by writer-director Hemanth M Rao, to bring proceedings, so real.
The characters take their decisions true to their character and not like this is needed for story to progress. Also, while the pacing is slow, the poetic nature of visuals and intensity between the couple captivates us. Sapta Sagaralu Dhaati is an achievement in writing and execution with few pit-falls.
Had the villainous characters been more well-designed and more well-written, the writing would’ve been much better. The kind of repetitiveness or predictability that we feel in mid-portions could have been avoided. Still, the close to real life execution keeps the movie together and interest intact. Rakshit Shetty has been improving his abilities as an actor and Sapta Sagaralu Dhaati is a great performance from him.
Without trying to force himself as a hero or as a star, he submits himself to character and director. The kind of groundedness he brings into his body language and character, resembles his maturity as an actor. Rukmini Vasanth is a revelation in this film. She has a captivating smile and highly expressive eyes. Her face is able to easily convey the thoughts going-on in her head and this is a great quality.

Special mention should be given to music by Charan Raj. The background score dissolves into the proceedings and songs help to carry the feel forward. No song takes us out of the narrative and rather adds to the emotions. Hemanth Rao showcased his ability to narrate a very emotional story with impact in his Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu.
Here, in Sapta Sagaralu Dhaati, he took Rumi’s popular saying, “Somewhere beyond the right and wrong, there is a garden. I will meet you there”. And mixed it with our fairytale line, “Prince finds his Princess, after crossing seven oceans,” to great effect. Metaphorically, poetically, visually this is a sensible tale of romance and experience. We would categorise the movie, Sapta Sagaralu Dhaati, as an experience, you should not miss out.
