Salman Khan has been able to build a cult around Eid releases from past decade. KKBKKJ – Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, movie is his latest release for Eid 2023. Salman Khan films like Kick, Ek Tha Tiger, Dabangg, Bodyguard, Sultan, Bajrangi Bhaijaan became huge blockbusters. Hence, many stars left Eid holiday for Salman Khan films. But from past 6 years, he hasn’t been able to do similar magic.
Salman Khan tasted failures during Eid with Tubelight, Bharat, Race3. Now, KKBKKJ has released after a gap of 4 years in theatres for him. The movie is a remake of Veeram, Ajith Kumar starrer. Farhad Samji wrote and directed it. Salman Khan films started opening for record breaking numbers during Eid weekend.
But KKBKKJ opened at 12-15 crores Nett gross on first day. Even on Eid day, it collected only 25 crores Nett. Sunday needs to be the best with 28-30 crores. Salman Khan films despite reviews performed huge at box office. But from Tubelight they have been struggling to collect Rs.100 – 150 crores Nett gross. KKBKKJ has to have huge word of mouth boost to recover costs and be a hit with 60-65 crores Nett start, likely, from 3-days Eid weekend. Even Overseas markets are dull with 2.5 Million USD. Salman Khan needs a script that matches his stardom and not remakes.
Trade experts feel Salman Khan is taking it lightly. Tiger 3 could be a mega opener but will it be similar to Pathaan or not, needs to be seen during Diwali. YRF Spy Universe film Tiger Zinda Hai collected huge and that is the only Blockbuster for Salman Khan since Tubelight. Well, Salman Khan seems to have taken it easy with remakes working big time. His fans are also unhappy with KKBKKJ and his recent films.
