Rudhrudu Rating: 2/5
Rudhrudu is the new mass commercial film from Raghava Lawrence factory. Yes, he has become a care of address for social message oriented horror comedy films like Muni series. He has been making foray into social message oriented commercial formula films too. Rudhrudu belongs to that category. With major talents like GV Prakash Kumar, Sam CS, RD Rajasekhar and Anthony working on the film, the expectations are decent. Rudhrudu released on 14th April in Telugu and Tamil as Rudhran. Let’s discuss about the film!
Rudhrudu Plot:
Rudhrudu (Raghava Lawrence) is only son of Travels owner (Nasser) and his wife (Poornima Bhagyaraj). He finds a software job after being at home jobless for few years. Immediately, he notices Ananya (Priya Bhavani Shankar), an orphan working as lab assistant. Rudhrudu falls in love with her due to her kind heart. His father gets cheated in the business for Rs. 6 crores and dies of cardiac arrest. Rudhrudu accepts on-site offer and marries Ananya. Leaving his single mother and wife behind he goes to London. But as he comes back he notices his mother’s dead body. Rudhrudu starts searching for a goon called Bhoomi (R. Sarathkumar) and keeps killing his men. Why? What happened to his family? Watch the movie to know more.

Rudhrudu Analysis:
Rudhrudu is a typical mass commercial cinema that doesn’t try to put its feet on land. Ironically, hero searches for a villain named, Bhoomi, which translates to land. Logic in mass masala films is nowhere to be seen but Rudhrudu is fifty steps ahead. Suddenly, hero finds a job. Without any proper rhyme or reason his father gets cheated by his friend. Rudhrudu goes to unearth a scam that even police are part of but then he doesn’t face any resistance from them. It seems like a film written and made by nascent writers and director with no idea on how to develop a scene or shot emotion.
It just feels like a long boring one act film that is drawn out too much. Rudhrudu just tries to play on the strengths of Raghava Lawrence. He dances well, emotes well but looks too jaded. Still, his performance helps the film. RD Rajasekhar cinematography is fine. Music by GV Prakash Kumar and BGM by Sam CS are as loud as the makers wanted them to be. Poornima Bhagyaraj and Priya Bhavani Shankar are wasted. Sarathkumar seems to have accepted the film as Muni resurrected his career as supporting lead. Rudhrudu fails to even live up to the promise of a simple commercial film. Makers had some ideas and saw old films of Raghava Lawrence to make this Rudhrudu. You can avoid paying a visit to him!

Rudhrudu Positives:
Raghava Lawrence performance
Social Message
Rudhrudu Negatives:
Too Loud
Too Unrealistic
Too Non-sensical
Too Bad Writing
Too Prolonged Fights
Rudhrudu Bottom-line: An Injection of Madness.
Samantha hopes high on Shaakuntalam!
