SS Rajamouli, Ram Charan, Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao came together for the first time to make RRR. They have made a sensation by making the announcement in 2018. After Baahubali 2, Rajamouli took his time to come up with this film idea and screenplay. RRR announcement made fans of Telugu Cinema go crazy as never Nandamuri Family hero and Mega Family hero did not come together as they both have been pitted against each other as bigggest rivals with similar kind of mass traction. RRR is recognised as new dawn of multi-starrers in Telugu or South Cinema as a senior hero and young hero came together but never two similarly popular and big action heroes in recent past.
RRR team wanted a 2020 release but due to pandemic it released in Summer, 2022. Movie became an Industry Hit in Telugu and collected Rs.1000 crores gross Worldwide. International audience took a liking to the movie like no other Indian film in US, Japan really making it a new dawn for Indian films. Rajamouli has announced a consolidated campaign to push for Oscar nominations for the RRR film, as major number of International filmmakers and fans have encouraged the team to go for Oscar nominations. Indian Board did not think that way to make it an official submission from the country.
Now, he clarified the rumours that RRR sequel could come out. Rajamouli said, “RRR Sequel is definitely on cards as Fans are excited for it and we are too. My father Vijayendra Prasad is writing story for the possibility of making it even more exciting looking at all the traction it got Nationally and Internationally. But it won’t start until we finish my next with Mahesh Babu and Ram Charan, Tarak finish their next big projects. It will take much longer time, than I can promise. But it is in the offing and on cards.” Fans started predicting the movie to release late in 2032 while Mahesh globe throttling movie will come out in 2026, in fun memes on online.
