Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has pledged full support to strengthen Hyderabad’s film industry, promising reforms that will benefit both filmmakers and workers. Speaking at a meeting with producers, directors, and film workers, he assured that the government would create a fair, safe, and sustainable environment for everyone in the Telugu film sector.
Revanth Reddy acknowledged the major role the Telugu film industry plays in India’s economy and culture, calling Hyderabad a key creative hub that deserves global recognition. He said the government aims to make the State a model for how cinema can thrive through cooperation and ethical practices.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister addressed the growing issues faced by workers, including job insecurity and lack of welfare support. He emphasised that while producers invest heavily in film projects, workers must also be treated with dignity and fairness. He announced plans to introduce a skill development programme through the State’s Skill University to train technicians, support artists, and young talents entering the field.
To ensure better welfare, the government is also considering the creation of a special fund to provide healthcare, insurance, and financial support for industry workers. Revanth Reddy urged production houses to extend opportunities to small-budget filmmakers and regional storytellers, saying that a strong industry depends on inclusivity and innovation.
The Chief Minister also warned against exploitation and conflict within the industry, stressing that disputes and strikes harm everyone involved. He said the government will soon establish a monitoring system to ensure that film production runs smoothly and in accordance with labour laws.
Several leading figures from the Telugu film fraternity attended the meeting and welcomed the Chief Minister’s proposals. His assurance has been seen as a positive step towards strengthening ties between the government and the creative community.
With new initiatives planned, Hyderabad’s film sector appears set for a more structured, fair, and globally competitive future.
