Rangabali Movie Rating: 2/5
Rangabali is the new movie from Naga Shaurya. The actor has been trying different genres between comedy capers like Chalo. Rangabali marks his style of romantic comedy and the film promises to be a comic caper. Yukti Thareja, MTV presenter, debuted in Telugu with the movie. Comedian Satya hilarious imitation of popular celebrity interviewers has gone viral as part of film promotions. And Pawan Basamsetti debuted as director with this one. Let’s discuss about Rangabali movie now!
Rangabali starts with intriducing Shaurya(Naga Shaurya) from Rajaram village. In his village, Rangabali centre is most famous and in a way, a financial hub. Shaurya dreams of being a big name but doesn’t want to settle away from his hometown. His father forces him to go to Vizag for a Pharmacist course. Dean tags him along a Junior Doctor, Sahaja(Yukti Thareja). He and Sahaja fall in love but her father rejects the match as Shaurya hails from Rajaram and has deep connection with Rangabali centre. What happens next? Rangabali deals with this love and Shaurya’s past connection with Rangabali centre!
Rangabali movie tries to talk about how society gives more importance to Negative than Positive in a person. It tries to tell us how good reflects good and bad never reflects good. Still, the narrative is so pathetic that we wish for Comedian Satya to be us in the theatre, especially, in second half. The movie could have been much more innovative and sensible in narrating the same point. But Rangabali is developed in a very amateurish way. It circles around the same point without motoring ahead. It feels like we are forced to complete “8” on a track that is built for driving fast and straight. Just impossible to fathom.
Rangabali has good performances from Naga Shaurya and Satya. Their comic timing makes first hour a decent watch. But the second hour tries to be dark comedy and then a hero vs villain – cat & mouse game and then ends as a social awareness drama. Rangabali doesn’t stick to a genre and fails in really delivering the message it wants to deliver in a strong manner. Sarath Kumar, Subhaleka Sudhakar are wasted. Yukti Thareja seems to have been cast to act in an sizzling number without any restrictions. Rest all do not leave an impact. Rangabali could’ve been a fun satire like Jathiratnalu but ends being neither a satire nor a fun romantic comedy.
