PS-2 or Ponniyin Selvan-2 has become the biggest release for a Tamil film in recent years. After PS-1 becoming a massive blockbuster, PS-2 had to match the business if not increase it. The movie has been released on the same day as Baahubali-2 by makers. While it did not gain as much momentum as Baahubali-2 before release, PS-2 managed to hold its fort. Movie has crossed 200 crores gross in just 4 days, globally.
Mani Ratnam, legendary director of Indian Cinema, achieved his dream to make a movie based on Ponniyin Selvan novel with these films. He got support of entire Tamil Cinema and legends like Rajnikanth, Kamal Haasan decided to promote the film too. Kamal Haasan watched the movie, PS-2, at a special screening along with Devi Sri Prasad. He said that he enjoyed the film and Tamil Cinema has achieved International standards technically. He congratulated each and every member of PS-2.
Kamal Haasan also stated that he wanted to make this movie long time ago, but he is happy for Mani Ratnam making it. PS-2 has been able get good word of mouth and better reviews than the first one. Tamil audiences are loving the movie. Majorly, Chiyaan Vikram and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are being praised for their performances. AR Rahman composed music for the film. Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies produced the film. Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Jayam Ravi, Prakash Raj, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sharatkumar are part of the long ensemble cast. PS-2 is being celebrated as Tamil pride by Tamil people.
