Priyanka Mohan pins hopes on OG for Tollywood breakthrough

Priyanka Mohan

Kannada beauty Priyanka Mohan first entered Telugu cinema with Nani’s Gang Leader. At the time, she had acted in only one Kannada film, but Nani’s team chose her for her charm and talent. Though Gang Leader was not a major commercial hit, it gave Priyanka recognition as an actress.

She later starred opposite Sharwanand in Sreekaram, which also failed to impress at the box office. As a result, Priyanka had to wait nearly three years before receiving another chance in Tollywood, during which she worked on a few Tamil films.

Her comeback in Telugu cinema came again with Nani, in Saripodhaa Sanivaaram. This film performed well, boosting her confidence. However, new offers did not follow immediately. Around the same time, director Sujeeth signed her for OG, one of the most awaited films, starring Pawan Kalyan. Expectations are sky-high for this project, both from fans and the industry.

For Priyanka, OG is seen as a turning point. She hopes the film’s success will make her one of the busiest actresses in Telugu cinema. Pawan Kalyan himself praised her at a pre-release event, saying she has real potential and will impress audiences with her role. He also wished her a bright future in the industry.

However, there is a long-standing discussion in Tollywood about heroines who work with Pawan Kalyan. Many believe that actresses who debut alongside him often struggle to build strong careers later. Only a few exceptions are mentioned as success stories. Whenever a new heroine pairs with Pawan, this debate resurfaces.

If OG becomes a blockbuster, Priyanka Mohan is likely to sign several new projects, silencing critics. The film’s result could decide whether she finally secures her place as a leading lady in Tollywood. Fans and industry watchers are keenly waiting to see if Priyanka can break the so-called “Pawan heroine myth” with this big opportunity.
