Prabhas’s Raja Saab faces legal battle between co-producers

Prabhas’s Raja Saab has been facing one delay after another, and its release now looks uncertain despite the recent announcement of a 5 December premiere. Fresh legal troubles have now further clouded the film’s future.

The dispute is between the film’s production companies — People Media Factory and Delhi-based IV Entertainment. According to court filings, IV Entertainment had entered into an agreement to co-produce Raja Saab alongside People Media Factory, committing to invest ₹225 crore in the film’s production. Out of this, the company has already contributed ₹218 crore.

However, IV Entertainment later decided to withdraw from the agreement, citing multiple reasons, including a lack of timely updates from the main producers. The company formally stated its intention to terminate the deal.

This sudden withdrawal did not sit well with People Media Factory, which took the matter to court. They argued that cancelling the agreement mid-way was unlawful, pointing out that the production costs have already exceeded IV Entertainment’s investment, that the shoot is still ongoing, and that the delay was due to unforeseen circumstances. They further claimed that such actions were damaging the company’s reputation.

In response, IV Entertainment also approached the court, seeking a refund of its investment with an additional 18% interest. Currently, both petitions are pending judicial review.

People Media Factory has expressed readiness to deposit IV Entertainment’s investment with the court before the film’s release but has requested that IV Entertainment have no involvement in the distribution or marketing of Raja Saab.

With the case unresolved, it remains to be seen whether these legal hurdles will push the Prabhas’s Raja Saab release even further. For now, his fans will have to wait and watch how the court rules, a decision that could determine the fate of one of the most high-profile Telugu releases in recent years.
