Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s long-planned production Maa Inti Bangaram has found fresh momentum, with filmmaker Nandini Reddy now confirmed as its director. The project, which had been facing delays and uncertainty, will move forward under the guidance of Samantha’s long-time collaborator and trusted friend.
Originally announced in 2023, Maa Inti Bangaram was meant to be Samantha’s second major production after Subham. However, the film stalled in development, with initial plans of introducing a debut director quietly dropped. Now, by handing the project to Nandini Reddy, Samantha has made it clear that she wants to ensure quality and a strong creative vision.
The film is said to be a crime-cum-social drama set in the 1980s, exploring powerful themes against a backdrop of family and social conflict. Samantha will not only produce it under her Tralala Moving Pictures banner but also play the lead role. For fans, the announcement brings back memories of Oh Baby (2019), the much-loved hit that Samantha and Nandini Reddy worked on together. The reunion of this duo has already sparked excitement in the Telugu film industry.
According to reports, the script is currently being fine-tuned, with Nandini Reddy bringing her signature storytelling style to the project. Pre-production work is expected to begin shortly, and filming could commence before the end of this year once the casting is finalised.
Meanwhile, Samantha’s first production Subham released earlier this year and is heading to streaming platforms. Though it had a modest theatrical run, it was appreciated as a bold debut effort. By stepping into production, Samantha has joined a small group of South Indian actresses who are also shaping stories behind the camera.
With Maa Inti Bangaram finally gaining pace, Samantha is set to strengthen her dual role as an actress and producer. Fans are eager to see how her partnership with Nandini Reddy will translate on screen this time, especially with a story rooted in both crime and emotion.
