Tollywood’s King Nagarjuna has officially confirmed that his landmark 100th film will be directed by Tamil filmmaker Ra. Karthik. The actor, known for his willingness to experiment with roles and genres, revealed that he had been in discussions with the director for nearly a year and finally gave his nod after being impressed with the script.
Nagarjuna shared the news during his appearance as a guest on Jayammu Nishchayammu Ra, hosted by Jagapathi Babu. He disclosed that Ra. Karthik had narrated the story to him last year, and since then, extensive work has been going on to shape the project. Currently in pre-production, the film is planned on a grand scale and is said to be one of the biggest ventures of the actor’s career.
Tentatively titled King100, the 100th film of Nagarjuna will be produced under Nagarjuna’s own Annapurna Studios banner. The makers are also preparing a special first-look poster to be unveiled on 29 August, coinciding with the actor’s birthday. Reports suggest that this reveal will showcase a striking new avatar of the star, heightening excitement among his fans.
Over the years, Nagarjuna has built a reputation for balancing mainstream entertainers with unconventional films. From classics like Shiva and Annamayya to experimental outings such as Manam and Oopiri, he has consistently sought variety in his work. More recently, he impressed audiences with his role in Kubera and is currently working on the film Coolie.
With 99 films already behind him, Nagarjuna has been cautious in selecting his centennial project, determined to make it memorable both for himself and his fans. His decision to collaborate with Ra. Karthik, who is known for fresh storytelling in Tamil cinema, reflects that intent.
