Music Composer Raj, son of legendary composer Thotakura Venkata Raju or TV Raju, passed away on 21st May. His full name was Thotakura Somaraju. He passed away due to cardiac arrest before family could shift him to hospital. Raj and Koti worked as assistants for legendary composer Chakravarthy. They got an opportunity to work for Pralayagarjana movie and became a duo. Raj with Koti composed huge blockbusters and changed the music scene in Telugu Cinema.
He worked for Megastar Chiranjeevi films like Kodama Simham, Yamudiki Mogudu, Lankeswarudu, Mutha Mestri. With such hits Raj Koti duo composed music for Nagarjuna, Venkatesh and Balakrishna films. Their Kartavyam, Peddarikam, Hello Brother became huge successes that their casette sales have been records in Telugu Cinema. Raj and Koti composed for over 180 films together. Hence, even Chiranjeevi shared condolences for the demise of Raj and remembered their association.

Raj and Koti have split up and Raj composed for films like Sisindri, Ramudocchadu. Koti became more successful than Raj as an independent composer. Raj and Koti duo have created sensation with their private albums in Telugu. It will be a great loss for Industry to lose a composer like Raj, who had great technical understanding for sound and quality. AR Rahman worked with them as an assistant during his formative years. Koti expressed his shock and stated that he was devastated upon hearing to the news of losing his close friend, Raj. We are too and we wish strength for their family to come out of this huge loss.
