Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty Plot:
Anvitha Shetty(Anushka Shetty) is an International Chef. Her mother(Jayasudha) suffers with cancer and after her death she feels lonely. Anvitha thinks she should get pregnant through IUI procedure. She tries to find perfect sperm donor and she likes Siddhu Polishetty(Naveen Polishetty), an aspiring stand-up comedian. Will Mr Polishetty accept Miss Shetty proposal? Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty Analysis:
Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty tries to build a regular rom-com on a novel foundation. A commitment phobic individual changing in the presence of a person who loves to commit. This concept has been as regular as rain creating pot holes on Indian roads. But the premise of a woman being older than man, is something fresh. Cheeni Kum used the premise of a older chef falling in love with a middle-aged woman. This seemed to reverse that but then trying to be more cool, Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty lost its unique selling point.
Woman trying to have a baby without marriage and conducting interviews for sperm donors, is novel on paper but not in execution. Films like Mogudu Kavali, Attintlo Adde Mogudu, Kirayi Mogudu have used premise of woman wanting to marry just for the sake of some momentary benefit. Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty takes those films approach in delivering its point. The movie starts off establishing Anushka’s character yet writer-director felt the need for an emotional outburst from her character towards the climax. Writing has been that old school with major chunk of scenes. Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty comes alive and becomes contemporary only with Naveen Polishetty stand-up portions. Mostly, it feels like a short film dragged on as the plot doesn’t feel like moving in any direction till interval.
Anushka Shetty character accepting Naveen Polishetty in to her life unknowingly, would’ve worked better than the interval point. Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty for most part feels like it wants peiple to accept its premise and point through dialogues rather than the scenes. Anushka Shetty looks seem odd and she needs to work on the aspect. Naveen Polishetty shouldered the movie and his stand-up comic bits work. His comic timing is also good. Rest of the characters don’t leave any impact. Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty doesn’t get good support from music as well. Since, it keeps everything at surface level, this film fails to connect.
