Mansion 24 is the new web-series from Telugu popular filmmaker and anchor, Ohmkar. He debuted into OTT content creation space with this web-series. Varalakshmi Sarathkumar got the main lead role in this horror web-series, Mansion 24. Rao Ramesh, Satyaraj, Avika Gor kind of talented actors are part of the cast in this series. After successful Raju Gari Gadhi franchise, Ohmkar has decided to even debut on OTT space with a horror series. Let’s discuss about Mansion 24 further.
Mansion 24 Analysis:
Mansion 24 plot is not so complicated to follow. It is almost like a procedural where an investigative journalist Amrutha(Varalakshmi Sarathkumar) goes to Mansion 24, an abandoned hotel for investigation. As her father, archeologist Kalidas(Sathyaraj) is accused of stealing valuable artifacts, she determines to clear his name. She meets Mansion 24 watchman(Rao Ramesh) in the process at the hotel. He starts to reveal several stories happened in the place.
The stories follow a pattern of paranormal activity in the building. While no one lives there, watchman tries to keep the property safe. Several stories keep haunting her in the sleep as nightmares. Ohmkar in Mansion 24 tried to shed away horror-comedy image on him and dived into complete horror. The genre required him to be more imaginative and creative in creating scares. Rather he seemed to be dependent on regular jump scares and simple stories. Mansion 24 fails to grab our attention and sustain it.
There are few moments that really have potential value to make us dig deep into the story. Had the mystery of all these stories being narrated by watchman to save guard the treasure, the premise would’ve been interesting. Had the stories been created around the treasure, it would’ve been more creative. For now, the web-series is more like a verison of Darna Mana Hai and Darna Zaroori Hai anthology films.
Mansion 24 has good performances from Varalakshmi Sarathkumar and Rao Ramesh. But Sriman, Avika Gor do not get much to do with their characters. Rajeev Kanakala character starts off interestingly but did not have enough meat. Ohmkar as a director tried more glossy and bright lighting. That does take away mystery from the setting. Mansion 24 could have been much better with even better writing and creative scares.
