Lyricist Sreemani says his goal is to grow into a complete writer, not just remain limited to penning songs. On his birthday, he shared his wish to explore more areas of writing, including dialogues, while also strengthening his place as one of Telugu cinema’s leading lyricists.
Sreemani, who began his career with 100% Love, has since written for many hit films and carved a space for himself among the top lyricists in Tollywood. Known for his versatility, he can deliver everything from mass introduction songs to soulful melodies. “Every birthday feels like a new beginning,” he said. “I want to achieve fresh milestones and take my writing journey to the next step.”
Reflecting on his recent work, he mentioned songs like Bujji Thalli and Hailessa from Tandel, and Nijamaa Kalaa from Lucky Baskhar, which were praised for their depth and emotion. He credited directors and music composers for trusting him with such opportunities. “Each song is a challenge,” he explained. “Trends change quickly, but I always try to write lyrics that stay fresh even after ten years.”
For Sreemani, simplicity and emotion go hand in hand. “Love is universal. Every song carries a new emotion and expression. My effort is to use words that touch people while keeping the feeling intact,” he said. Social media, he admitted, has increased the pressure to create instant hits, but he believes timeless lyrics matter just as much.
The lyricist treasures the appreciation he has received from respected figures like Sukumar and the late Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry. “When such legends acknowledge your work, it feels like the biggest achievement,” he said.
Though he has no interest in direction, Sreemani is keen to expand his horizons as a writer. He often joins story discussions with friends and hopes to contribute dialogues along with lyrics. Currently, he is working on projects including Okasari Oka Thara with Dulquer Salmaan, Sambaram with Sai Tej, and India House.
With a clear vision for the future, Sreemani looks set to continue shaping the sound of Telugu cinema while aiming to become a truly complete writer.
