Merlapaka Gandhi made a promising debut with Venkatadri Express and then continued it with Express Raja. But his KrishnaArjuna Yuddham, Maestro (Andhadhun Remake) did not work with the audiences. He wrote the story for Santhosh Sobhan’s Ek Mini Katha that became an OTT hit. Merlapaka Gandhi has now directed Like Share & Subscribe with Santhosh Sobhan and let’s discuss the film.
Plot::
Viplav (Santhosh Sobhan) tries hard to become famous and finds travel vlogging as his means. He takes Daniels (Sudharshan) as his camera person with him. There he finds Vasudha Varma (Faria Abdullah) at Araku, making vlogs. She has 3 Million subscribers and Viplav is struggling to even get 300. On the other hand, Vasudha Varma’s father DGP Varma (Adukalam Naren) is under threat as the leader (Mime Gopi) of an anti establishment group from Vizag pledges to kill him. Viplav tries to make Vasudha fall for him but things don’t go in favour. What happens next? Watch the movie to know more…
Analysis::
Merlapaka Gandhi promised a fresh comedy style in Venkatadri Express and tried to not stick to formulas. While he added commercial elements, he made sure that he doesn’t stick to templates. But he found his own template with Express Raja and tried to get back to it with Like Share & Subscribe. But the movie lacks originality or freshness in comedy. KrishnaArjuna Yuddham had much better comedy and characters even though it did not work. Merlapaka Gandhi seems to have just tried to work within his template and force some fun into a script that is not working. It starts out well but then fizzles out with Hero looking too weak and the film dragging things too much.
Brahmaji comedy worked for a bit but did not stay with the audiences as much as him pulling off some scenes in Venkatadri Express or Express Raja. Faria Abdullah looked cute and she deserves much better characters. Santhosh Sobhan has good comic timing and likeability on screen. Better scripts will help him. This movie, even for Merlapaka Gandhi, is hard to Like Share & Subscribe.
Positives:
Few Comedy Scenes
Faria Abdullah cuteness
Santhosh Sobhan ease
Brahmaji comic timing
Negatives::
Predictability
Unconvincing plot
Lag in Second hour
Rushed Climax
Bottom line: Hard to Like, Share and Subscribe
