Famous Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar is now turning his focus towards Tollywood, after many failed attempts to bring Telugu stars into Hindi cinema. Inspired by the pan-India craze for Telugu heroes like Prabhas, Jr NTR, and Ram Charan, Karan had earlier offered them big projects in Bollywood. But none of them showed interest.
After Baahubali, Karan gave several offers to Prabhas, but the star didn’t accept them. Later, after the release of RRR, he approached both Ram Charan and Jr NTR. They too politely declined. Even with the help of directors like Puri Jagannadh and Ram Gopal Varma, his plans to launch Telugu stars in Hindi didn’t work out.
Now, reports suggest that Karan Johar is changing his strategy. Instead of pulling Telugu stars to Mumbai, he is planning to set up operations in Hyderabad. His goal is to produce films in Telugu, with local heroes, and then take them to a wider audience across India.
Sources say he has already made a list of Telugu actors with pan-India appeal and is personally reaching out to them. Interestingly, his banner is also contacting young and emerging actors, not just big stars. The team is collecting details about their availability, preferred genres, and pay expectations.
Currently, all discussions are happening from Mumbai, but Karan is planning to open an office in Hyderabad soon. He aims to produce films in both Telugu and Hindi from here.
Fans are now eager to know who will be the first Telugu actor to sign a film with Karan Johar. Interestingly, Rajasekhar’s daughters had once expressed their dream to work under his banner—maybe their chance is coming.
