The teaser of the upcoming Telugu film K Ramp, starring young actor Kiran Abbavaram, has triggered debate among audiences. Viewers have questioned the use of objectionable words and dialogues, while the film’s title has also faced criticism.
Directed by Jains Nani, the movie is set for release on 18 October. Responding to the controversy, the makers held a press meet today. Abbavaram defended the K Ramp teaser, saying the dialogues were not added for shock but to reflect the hero’s character.
He explained, “I recently watched a very good film where audiences enjoyed even the abusive words. We are not wrong for using such dialogues. In our teaser, they are meant to show the hero’s character. If we had added polite lines instead, people would have left the theatres. But when you watch the full film, you will not feel the same way. Families will also enjoy the film, as it has all the needed elements.”
Clarifying the title, director Jains Nani said K Ramp is not vulgar. He explained that the hero’s name is Kumar, so the title refers to “Kiran Ramp” rather than carrying any offensive meaning.
The film stars Yukti Thareja as the female lead, with senior actors Naresh, Sai Kumar and comedian Vennela Kishore playing key roles.
The use of bold or vulgar language in Telugu films has been a subject of debate in recent years. Critics say filmmakers are relying on such dialogues to generate hype. Director Maruthi even admitted recently that he has reduced the use of these words in his scripts.
With K Ramp now under the spotlight, opinions remain divided. Some believe controversial lines attract viewers, while others argue that cinema should avoid such trends. The true response will be known only after the film’s release next month.
