The upcoming film Coolie, starring superstar Rajinikanth and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is set for release on 14 August. The movie has already created a buzz, and the team held a grand pre-release event in Hyderabad to build excitement.
Though Rajinikanth could not attend in person, he sent a special video message that was played at the Coolie event. Speaking in the video, the actor praised director Lokesh Kanagaraj, saying Lokesh is to Tamil cinema what Rajamouli is to Telugu cinema. Rajinikanth added that every film Lokesh has made so far has been a hit.
He also said that Coolie features many popular actors, and it’s only because of Lokesh’s vision and efforts that such a big cast came together.
In the film, veteran actor Nagarjuna plays a character named Simon. Rajinikanth admitted that when he first heard about this casting, he was surprised. He thought Nagarjuna was trying something new. But once he learnt more about the role, Rajinikanth liked the character so much that he even wished he could play it himself.
He went on to say that Nagarjuna looked very stylish in the role and that it impressed him greatly.
Rajinikanth also remembered working with Nagarjuna 30 years ago, saying Nagarjuna looks exactly the same now as he did back then. While Rajinikanth joked that he has lost all his hair over time, Nagarjuna still has his original hair and youthful look.
When Rajinikanth asked him how he stays so young, Nagarjuna revealed his secrets: a strict diet, regular workouts, swimming, and good genes from his father.
The Coolie pre-release event also saw the presence of actor Sathyaraj, actress Shruti Haasan, and director Lokesh Kanagaraj. With such strong support and star power, the film is eagerly awaited by fans across India.
