Zack Snyder has cast Henry Cavill as Superman in Man of Steel and in DCEU films like Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice League, Justice League. He is expected to come back as Superman in Man of Steel 2 and future DCEU films like Black Adam vs Superman. Now, DC Comics has a management change with director James Gunn and Peter Safran taking over the reins. James Gunn has had a discussion with Henry Cavill and the actor confirmed that he is not returning to play Superman, again.

Director James Gunn shared the same about on Twitter and wrote, ” Peter & I have a DC slate ready to go, which we couldn’t be more over-the-moon about; we’ll be able to share some exciting information about our first projects at the beginning of the new year. Among those on the slate is Superman. In the initial stages, our story will be focusing on an earlier part of Superman’s life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill. But we just had a great meeting with Henry and we’re big fans and we talked about a number of exciting possibilities to work together in the future.”

James Gunn has confirmed to fans that he is writing the new Superman movie and it won’t be an origin movie. Henry Cavill has given up on his Netflix hit show, The Witcher and announced that he will be coming back as Superman in future films of DCEU. Fans of the actor and new Superman films are unhappy with this development but James Gunn has promised a better film than DC films that undermined the source material, according to the fans and critics. We have to wait and see how James Gunn will drive the character.
