Ghoomer Analysis:
Ghoomer is a novel idea from R. Balki. The director is known for making movies with novel ideas and completely different thinking. He has shown problems in landing climaxes of his films. But he has been able to showcase different experiences for us with his films. Also, he delivered major number of unique characters with actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Vidya Balan. He made great use of Abhishek Bachchan in this film. Ghoomer while narrates the story of Anina played by Saiyami Kher, it belongs to Abhishek. His screen presence and behaviour like the character are the essence of the film. Abhishek Bachchan steals the show in especially, “prustration” monologue.
Saiyami Kher is very believable in Anina role. She did her best to bring to life the resilient character. Ghoomer showcases her cricketing and performing abilities. Shabana Azmi got a character she can have fun with. Ivanka Das leaves an impression once again. Angad Bedi doesn’t really make an impression. Amitabh Bachchan in the last moments does improve the value of the sequences. But the problem lies in exaggerated and over-stretched climax portion. Predictability and usual troupes also damage the flow of the film. Performances hook us to the film but writing could have been much better. Movie seems to be a mix of Mayuri and Ashwini but with cliched troupes. Ghoomer connects with those who love cricket and for others it is a just a passable flick.

Ghoomer Positives:
Abhishek Bachchan performance
Saiyami Kher
Shabana Azmi
Novel idea
Amit Trivedi music
Ghoomer Negatives:
Predictability
Over-Stretched Climax
Heavy Melodrama
Ghoomer Bottom-line: Effective for Cricket-lovers
