A fake social media account claiming to be Anantapur MLA Daggupati Prasad has stirred controversy among Telugu cinema fans, causing confusion over comments on actors Jr NTR and Pawan Kalyan. The account allegedly posted support for the film OG while criticising Jr NTR and praising Pawan Kalyan, which led to heated debates between fan groups.

The tweet claimed that Pawan Kalyan’s films were receiving unprecedented attention, while some individuals were allegedly exploiting his name to sell tickets under the pretext of TDP affiliation. This post caused tension among fans and went viral, making headlines across social media.

Prasad’s team quickly clarified that the account was fake and not his official X account. They stated that someone had deliberately created it in his name to cause confusion and stir controversy. The team also urged TDP supporters not to believe or engage with fake accounts and confirmed that cybercrime authorities would be involved to investigate the matter.

The incident follows a previous controversy, when an audio clip allegedly featuring Prasad criticising Jr NTR went viral after the release of War 2. Fans assumed it was the MLA’s voice, but Prasad denied involvement, calling it a conspiracy against him, and filed a police complaint.

Fan wars have become increasingly common in Tollywood. Whenever a major film releases, supporters of one actor often post negative content about another, creating unnecessary tension between fan communities. Such disputes affect both actors and producers, and social media platforms can amplify misinformation.

This latest episode highlights the challenges of managing online content and the importance of verifying sources. The MLA’s team emphasised that official statements should be trusted and that fake accounts can mislead fans and escalate conflicts unnecessarily.
