Well-known Telugu film producer Dil Raju is facing a tough phase after his latest production, Thammudu, failed to impress at the box office. Despite high hopes, the film, starring Nithiin and directed by Sriram Venu, opened to poor collections and empty theatres from day one.
Before the film’s release, Dil Raju had shown great confidence in Thammudu, believing it would at least perform averagely. His trust came from Sriram Venu’s previous films, which didn’t do badly. Unfortunately, Thammudu turned out to be a major disappointment. Dil Raju reportedly accepted the film’s failure and confirmed that he would no longer promote fake collection numbers or release misleading posters.
This flop may also impact his upcoming projects. His next film, Rowdy Janardhan, stars Vijay Deverakonda and is being directed by Ravi Kiran Kola. It is planned as a mass action entertainer, and the pressure is now on to ensure it delivers.
Another film under question is Ellamma, also starring Nithiin and directed by Sriram Venu. Had Thammudu been a hit, Ellamma would have moved forward with more energy and confidence. Now, the team is expected to proceed more cautiously.
Earlier this year, Dil Raju also suffered losses from Ram Charan’s Game Changer. He partially recovered with the Sankranti release Sankranthiki Vacham, but the industry is watching closely to see if he can bounce back from Thammudu’s failure.
Whether Dil Raju takes a fresh look at his strategies or continues as planned remains to be seen. What’s clear is that one flop can affect the entire lineup for a production house, especially when big budgets are involved.
