A 23-year-old from Delhi recently discovered the harsh reality behind his gangster dreams, inspired by films like OG, Saaho, and KGF. While these movies thrill audiences with stylish stunts and larger-than-life personas, for this young man, the fantasy became a dangerous path into real-life crime.
From an early age, he imagined himself as a gangster and became involved in killings, robberies, and other criminal activities. Calling himself “Maya” and using the slogan “Maya… Mouth Ka Dusra Naam”, he even created a gang. He flaunted weapons on social media, intimidating people and gaining followers in his criminal circle.
However, reality caught up. Police arrested him and filed over 20 cases, including robbery, snatching, and attempted murder. The youth realised that real life does not mirror cinema: the power and respect he imagined from films like OG, starring Pawan Kalyan in a gangster role, were illusions.
Authorities reported that his criminal activities escalated gradually. He not only intimidated ordinary people but also extorted money from other criminals. Despite his confidence in his “gangster” persona, law enforcement proved that crime carries serious consequences.
This Delhi case highlights the influence of cinema on impressionable minds. While action-packed films may entertain and inspire, mistaking fiction for reality can have severe repercussions. The young man now faces the full force of the law and must navigate the legal system as a consequence of his choices.
Experts advise that while movies can motivate youth to dream big or be courageous, it is crucial to distinguish between cinematic fantasy and reality. Aspirations based on crime or violence may seem thrilling on screen, but in real life, they can quickly lead to life-altering consequences.
