Das ka Dhamki is the new movie from Vishwak Sen. After Ashoka Vanam lo Arjuna Kalyanam and Ori Devuda, he is coming up with a thriller. Vishwak Sen, himself wrote the screenplay, dialogues and directed the film, Das Ka Dhamki. He made a name for himself as a director with Falaknuma Das and then decided to direct his next film after acting in few films. Das Ka Dhamki marks his second pairing with Nivetha Pethuraj and second directorial effort too. Let’s see how good the film is…
Das Ka Dhamki Plot:
Krishna Das (Vishwak Sen) is a waiter and he dreams about living a luxurious life. He is an orphan and takes his friends as his parents. He meets Keerthi (Nivetha Pethuraj) at the five-star hotel he is working as a waiter. She gets attracted to him straight away and he too reciprocates. But he lies to her to being filthy rich and he tries to cover up everything. When the truth comes out, SR Pharma Chairperson (Rao Ramesh) saves him and asks him to act as Dr.Sanjay Rudra (Vishwak Sen) to deliver a cancer curing drug to real-estate tycoon and goon, Dhanunjay (Ajay). What happened to Sanjay and why Das needed to give Dhamki? Watch the movie to know more!

Das Ka Dhamki Analysis:
There is an untold rule called “Preparing your audiences”, while making a film. It means you need to hold your audience interest by preparing them to what is going to happen next. The interest peaks as they get involved and even the predictable twist works out as they are involved in proceedings. In Das Ka Dhamki, first half tries to be a regular commercial film. Hence, the preparation for twists and thriller elements are lacking. It feels like a predictable tale, executed in a passable manner. But Das Ka Dhamki, changes course in the interval and second half tries to shock audiences. Rather it ends up being a wannabe thriller.
Vishwak Sen did dual roles and even directed the film. He is good framing and blocking but direction doesn’t end there. The script fails to deliver what he anticipated the movie Das Ka Dhamki, to be. The plot did not need Krishna Das life and love story to be explained for almost an hour when the story in second half is irrelevant to his past life. Any other director might have decided to start with Krishna Das acting as Sanjay Rudra and focused on what really happened to him. Das Ka Dhamki could have been a full-blown thriller with that start and “twists” would have been placed with breathing space for them to reach their full potential level. At least, audience would have been prepared about what they are going to witness.

Das Ka Dhamki is a pure Vishwak Sen Show. The actor tried to show differences between two characters. Nivetha Pethuraj went for slightly glamorous role from what she normally does. But Rohini, Hyper Abhi and Mahesh characters have been under-utilised. Rao Ramesh character takes predictable path and Ajay has been wasted. Comedy and entertainment parts in first half are passable but serious second half doesn’t hold up the interest. On the whole, Das Ka Dhamki aimed to be a thriller like Don but ended up not reaching its full potential.
Das ka Dhamki Positives:
Vishwak Sen performance
Songs
Production Design
Das Ka Dhamki Negatives:
Second Hour Screenplay
Sloppy Twists
Predictability
Over Indulgence
Das Ka Dhamki Bottom-line: Too Many Twists spoils the Dish
