Kannada film star Darshan Thoogudeepa has urged the court to conduct a speedy trial in the ongoing fan murder case that has drawn massive public attention across Karnataka. The actor, currently facing serious charges linked to the death of Renukaswamy, a fan from Chitradurga, has requested that the proceedings be completed without delay to ensure a fair and timely outcome.
According to reports, the case involves the alleged kidnapping and killing of Renukaswamy after he reportedly sent offensive messages to Darshan’s partner, Pavithra Gowda. Following his arrest earlier this year, Darshan has been under judicial custody and is one of several accused in the case. The incident shocked fans and sparked debate across the Kannada film industry, as Darshan remains one of its biggest stars.
During recent hearings, the Karnataka Police informed the court that they intend to recommend the creation of a fast-track court to handle the case. Officials said they aim to wrap up the trial within six months, citing the need to prevent unnecessary delays in serious criminal matters. Darshan’s legal team supported the proposal, emphasising that a quick trial would allow the truth to emerge and help restore the actor’s public image.
Meanwhile, the Karnataka High Court has granted Darshan conditional interim bail on medical grounds, allowing him to undergo treatment for chronic back pain. The court imposed restrictions on his public appearances and instructed him not to influence witnesses or discuss the case publicly.
Legal experts say the actor’s request for a faster trial could be a double-edged sword. While it may speed up justice, it also puts pressure on investigators and the judiciary to balance efficiency with fairness.
As the case progresses, both Darshan’s fans and the victim’s family are hoping for clarity and closure. The coming months will reveal whether the court agrees to expedite proceedings and how quickly justice will be served.
