Christopher Nolan is one of the most celebrated directors of World Cinema. He has a huge pull at the box office all by himself. He kept growing from “Memento” days in terms of popularity with the audiences across the world. Dark Knight franchise has established him as a force to reckon with and Inception, Interstellar have given him the “original director with big concepts” reputation.

He made Dunkrik, Tenet but Oscar has been evading him even though he got nominated 5 times before Oppenheimer. He did not win in “Original Screenplay” category for Memento and Inception. He did not win “Best Director” for Dunkrik. But he won the coveted award in Best Director and Best Picture categories for his Oppenheimer.

The movie has been nominated in 13 Categories and won in 7 categories out of them. Cillian Murphy (Best Actor), Robert Downey Jr. (Best Supporting Actor), Hoyte van Hoytema (Best Cinematography), Ludwig Göransson (Best Original Score), Jennifer Lame (Best Editing) and Emma Thomas (Best Picture) have won the awards like everyone thought they would.

The speeches from the masters who have been behind the film have won hearts of the viewers. But the speech from the director of Documentary Feature, “20 Days in Mariupol”, Mstyslav Chernov been heart-breaking. He wished for Russia to never have attacked Ukraine and he had to never make the movie.

Most memorable moment came when Ryan Gosling, gosled his “Ken” charisma performing his “I’m Ken” song from the movie. Everyone among the attendees stood up swooped by his magnetic presence and voice. Writer-director Greta Gerwig sung along with him and even “Best Actress” winner Emma Stone also sung bringing back the memories of “La La Land”.

John Sena left everyone with gasps walking on to the stage naked and many all-time hall of famers have been invited to talk about the nominated movies and actors in different categories. It looked like Academy really went for the grace and nostalgia it is associated with generally, rather than giving people pleasing moments, more weightage.

On the whole, we can say that Oppenheimer swept the awards’ season hands down winning everything possible and this will inspire many upcoming young talents to thing big and better; to be original and be passionate for Cinema. It is Christopher Nolan, who revolutionised cinema, once again with his unique concepts in big blockbuster films and him being honored would only let many more dreamers, a chance to fly high.
