Megastar Chiranjeevi came up with Godfather film for the Dussehra holidays. Rather than releasing on 30th September, when the holidays for schools and colleges start, the film Godfather team has decided to go with 5th October release date, coniciding with Vijayadasami holiday. Nagarjuna released his action adventure The Ghost and Ganesh Bellamkonda came with his debut film, Swathimuthyam. Godfather has been the first choice for Telugu audiences among the three.
Godfather collected Rs.38 crores gross on the first day and Rs.31.2 crores gross on the second day. Officially, Godfather producers – Konidela Productions and Super Good Films, have confirmed these figures and released Rs.69.2 crores gross poster. Megastar Chiranjeevi fans have been unhappy with low buzz and hype compared to other Chiranjeevi films like Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy and Khaidi No.150.
Even Acharya debacle helped the low buzz factor. Despite such low buzz and competition, Godfather managed to put up decent collections. Godfather movie satisfied them beyond their low key expectations and director Mohanraja remade Malayalam film, Lucifer without tampering it too much. Chiranjeevi is now busy with his next film, Mega154 in the direction of Bobby and in the movie, Ravi Teja is playing the role of a police officer. Movie is scheduled for Sankranti release.
